Planisphere 2 eliminates the 3 main problems that make the traditional planisphere so hard to use:

1. Planisphere 2 uses twenty 10-inch diameter star maps to cover the entire sky. This is more than 20 times the area of a traditional planisphere star map. Only a few constellations are on each Planisphere 2 map, making them large and easy to see. The larger the constellations are on the star maps, the more closely they match the apparent size of the actual constellations in the sky.

2. Unlike with traditional planispheres, the constellations on Planisphere 2 star maps have very little distortion. Since each map covers only a small portion of the sky, the constellations on the maps look very much like the actual constellations in the sky.

3. Planisphere 2 star maps are held just below the line of sight to the actual stars in the sky. This makes it easy to relate the maps to the night sky directly above them.

The end result is that you can learn more using Planisphere 2 for an hour than you would using a traditional planisphere for many weeks or months.
